This report is about a friend of mine. As I have not assessed the symptom myself, we will have to make do with his account and my interpretation of it.

Conflict: A violent altercation between construction workers needs to be resolved

A friend of mine is supervising a building site in Georgia (the country 🇬🇪).

20th: Just as he arrived on site, a row broke out between two construction workers who’d been friends for ages. One of them swung a piece of metal at the other, slashing his forearm in the process. It was a bloody mess.

My friend had to lock the two quarrellers in separate rooms. An unexpected, highly confrontational and isolating experience.

Incidentally, the construction workers met up again privately afterwards to have a proper brawl (resulting in even more serious injuries). Well, the Caucasian temperament is just very hot-blooded🔥.

21st: In the evening, he apparently resolved the conflict (intuitively), and this triggered a slight discomfort in his eye.

22nd: The next morning, the swelling had set in, and it became really severe as the day went on.

23rd: At its worst, the purulent swelling became so severe that he could barely see out of his left eye – which, given the intense conflict, was hardly surprising (the lens may also have been affected).

A short time later, we got in touch and he told me about the stye. I didn’t know anything about the argument at that point, but I asked him point-blank about a situation like that, which he, of course, immediately recalled.

He was a bit taken aback, even when I told him I suspected it would soon be over, as the conflict was minor (albeit intense).

Fortunately, he’s even more averse to doctors than I am, so it wasn’t really an issue.

25th: His condition improved rapidly; he literally felt he was ‘over the worst’ (he isn’t really familiar with Germanic expressions, or rather, he isn’t particularly interested in such things).

26th: The symptom had cleared up.

I suspect that, because of the intensity of the conflict, the recovery took a little longer than usual. As far as I know, he didn’t take any medication.

On handedness:

I wondered why the left eye was affected, given that he perceives the parties to the dispute as partners. However, it seems that he did not want to see the dispute without reference to the other people involved. According to Nexiqa, too, a ‘separation or defence conflict’ in relation to what was seen is not unlikely in this case. I mean, what else could it possibly have been?

Ingmar also expressed the suspicion that he might have seen THE confrontational scene with his left eye; that’s also possible.
